Chicago Bears Said To Be Doing “Big Time” Homework On Rising Prospect

-

The Chicago Bears have done a good job of keeping their intentions for the 1st round just vague enough for nobody to know for sure what they’ll do. Still, it appears a picture has begun to form regarding GM Ryan Poles’ plans. It boils down to one of two possible outcomes. The first is taking Georgia defensive tackle Jalen Carter with the 9th overall pick. Despite his well-reported off-the-field concerns, it seems the Bears are willing to take the risk on his obvious talent. The second and more likely option is the Bears will seek to trade down again.

This rumor has persisted for weeks, so the validity of it appears solid. What nobody knows is who the Bears might target if they get their wish to move down. David Kaplan of ESPN 1000 might have an idea. He’s been reaching out to sources close to the team and came away with interesting information. It appears the team has been doing extra homework on top offensive line prospect Darnell Wright, the right tackle from Tennessee. He was arguably the best blocker in the SEC last year with plug-and-play starting ability.

The Chicago Bears’ interest in Wright isn’t hard to understand.

He fits their physical profile at 6’5 with 33.75-inch arms. His 5.01 time in the 40-yard dash showcased his above-average athleticism. The fact he did it at 330 lbs only makes it more impressive. If he were to drop a few pounds, he could take full advantage of his ability in the Bears’ system. Best of all, he is a violent blocker with a proven foundation in pass protection. Wright shut down most of the best pass rushers he went against, including top-5 favorite Will Anderson from Alabama.

The added bonus is the Chicago Bears wouldn’t have to move him around. Wright can step in at right tackle from day one, their most problematic spot on the offensive line. It would allow Braxton Jones to stay on the left side. Together with an interior of Teven Jenkins, Cody Whitehair, and Nate Davis, the team would suddenly have a younger and more athletic front five than they’ve had in years.

Current projections have Wright going somewhere in the middle of the 1st round. That means Poles can feel comfortable moving down to the mid-teens and still have good odds of landing him. Then he can use that newfound ammunition to move back up on Day 2 for another prospect he covets.

Look I just don’t agree with any of this here’s what I think the bears should definitely do first by ither trade plus move or simply move first grab illinois cb devon witherspoon, trade if need be includ current cb next swap to pick on after another in the second round or third round taking illinois safety sydney brown, and his brother illinois rb chase brown I know of another rb smaller but deadly maybe you might have possibly heard about him Walter Payton only ever other day since the Walter Payton award I telling you I have a cosmic… Read more »

I’m sorry I can never get to the point. Rambling on and on is the only excitement I get until my mom’s new Vanity Fair shows up. That said, it’s here. Heading to my bedroom, back in 10 minutes

. (#47 I believe) They can then send Claypool and #61 to the Cardinals for D-Hop and a fifth along with a 3rd next year. This draft is deep with above servicable type starters in #25 through #60 range. We pick up Wright at #17 then we come back at #47 and draft the d-lineman from Northwestern. Voila! The receiving room gets that much deeper;

with 11 interceptions, two forced fumbles, and three defensive touchdowns for Iowa. When talking about a corner that is tailor-made for a Tampa-2 defense, Moss checks the boxes. He feels like yet another Hawkeye that will go later than he should.

Highly possible now that somebody wants to move up to #9 just for Wright. Be careful what you wish for.
