Chicago Bears Got Some Great News Ahead Of The Senior Bowl

-

The Chicago Bears have plenty of prep work to do before a critical 2023 NFL draft. It starts with the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, on February 4th. Most experts agree the event is the single highest concentration of future pro standouts aside from the scouting combine. That is why any team that can gain some sort of advantage during it will benefit. Sure enough, the Bears were the recipient of such good fortune. According to multiple sources, offensive coordinator Luke Getsy will coach the American team against Las Vegas Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham and his National team.

One cannot understate how valuable that position will be for Getsy. It means he and his staff will have an up close and personal view of some of the best talent in the entire 2023 draft. That means any offensive linemen, wide receivers, running backs, pass rushers, or defensive backs that stand out to him on or off the field could end up becoming significant targets for the Bears. Every piece of information helps in these situations. Remember that GM Ryan Poles added five players from the 2022 Senior Bowl roster, including Braxton Jones and Velus Jones. This will be a significant advantage he hopes to exploit.

The Chicago Bears will have a stacked roster to explore.

There is no shortage of future draft picks attending this event. Many of them play positions of great need for the Bears. Some of them might be in the running to be their first pick, depending on what they do at the #1 overall spot. Here are some ones to keep in mind.

  • Rashee Rice (WR, SMU)
  • Dontayvion Wicks (WR, Virginia)
  • Luke Musgrave (TE, Oregon State)
  • Dalton Kincaid (TE, Utah)
  • Chase Brown (RB, Illinois)
  • John Michael Schmitz (C, Minnesota)
  • Andrew Vorhees (OG, USC)
  • Darnell Wright (OT, Tennessee)
  • Matthew Bergeron (OT, Syracuse)
  • Andre Carter II (EDGE, Army)
  • Tyree Wilson (EDGE, Texas Tech)
  • Zach Harrison (EDGE, Ohio State)
  • Siaki Ika (DT, Baylor)
  • Zacch Pickens (DT, South Carolina)
  • Riley Moss (CB, Iowa)
  • Ji’Ayir Brown (S, Penn State)

This isn’t counting other players that might be overlooked coming from smaller programs. There are always a handful of such types. Cooper Kupp was a perfect example out of Eastern Washington in 2017. If Getsy is any good at player evaluation, he should take full advantage of this opportunity. The Chicago Bears could benefit hugely in the later rounds of the draft.
