Chicago Bears Get Welcome Injury News Ahead of Playoffs

-

The Chicago Bears injury fortunes haven’t been nearly as bad as the previous couple of seasons where practically a third to half of their roster spent considerable time on the shelf for one ailment or another. This year they’ve managed to avoid a catastrophic string of losses and it’s been a big reason they’ve had such a big turnaround, going 10-4 and winning the NFC North.

The question becomes how healthy will they be able to stay before the playoffs? With a first round bye still up for grabs, the Bears have every reason to continue playing their starters against San Francisco and Minnesota these final two weeks. It could end up proving difficult to win those games with two key players down.

Star safety Eddie Jackson rolled his ankle in the win over the Packers while Aaron Lynch sprained his elbow. Both missed practice Wednesday and the prevailing belief is they won’t play against the 49ers. However, the injuries aren’t deemed serious. This means they’re likely back by playoff time.

Not only that, but the Bears could get additional reinforcements on top of it.

Chicago Bears injury situation far from crippling at crucial time

Getting Jackson and Lynch back for the playoffs will be a welcome relief. Both have proven big keys in their respective roles on defense. Jackson is headed to his first Pro Bowl while Lynch has carved out a nice niche as a rotational pass rusher. The defense should be in good shape presuming there are no further losses. The big plus will be Long. His return to the offensive line should be welcome news.

Everybody knows the defense will be able to hold their own but in order for this team to make a run they need all the help they can get on offense. Inserting the veteran former Pro Bowler back into the starting lineup for the playoffs could be just the extra injection they need to get things revved up.
