Caleb Williams Just Won Over Bears Fans With One Admittedly Badass Tweet

-

Justin Fields is gone. The way is clear for the Chicago Bears to take their next quarterback #1 overall on April 25th. All signs point to Caleb Williams being that guy. The USC star and former Heisman winner has been on NFL radars for almost three years, ever since his epic debut against Texas in 2021. He’s already being described as a generational talent up there with prospects like Andrew Luck, Joe Burrow, and Trevor Lawrence. Bears fans aren’t sure what to expect since Williams is surrounded by questions about his character and commitment to the game.

If it’s about winning people over, though? The quarterback found a perfect way. A fan account on Twitter (X) called ImBearingDown posted a video of Williams becoming a lead blocker on a reverse, even sticking with it until after the whistle.

Bears fans love it when their quarterbacks show a little dawg in them. Jay Cutler was one such type. The big surprise came when Williams himself responded to the clip.

One has to hand it to the quarterback. He already seems to understand the audience he’s catering to. Plenty of Bears fans expressed great enthusiasm for his response, building excitement for what could be coming next month.

Caleb Williams might have what it takes.

Somebody pointed out recently that he has a tendency to like tweets and posts that criticize him in one way or another. It’s his way of keeping receipts so he can prove everybody wrong. That kind of defiant attitude is something most previous Bears quarterbacks didn’t share. The only two who did were Jim McMahon and Jay Cutler. Is it a coincidence those two happened to have the most success of any quarterback in this city in the past 40 years? Probably not. Maybe this kid is built like them.

One thing is clear. The Bears have paved the way for him in ways they never have before. GM Ryan Poles put together a roster that now includes D.J. Moore, Keenan Allen, D’Andre Swift, and Cole Kmet. He’ll have a young and athletic offensive line protecting him with an offensive coordinator in Shane Waldron, who has learned from some of the best at developing quarterbacks. Nobody can say Caleb Williams will be walking into a terrible situation. If anything, he’ll have arguably the best setup a #1 pick has ever had.

Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane were sent away to relieve pressure on Connor Bedard.

@Arnie…your not wrong on any of what your saying. I used this past Super Bowl as an example of “on paper” the 49ers were the better constructed team and lossed. They did get outcoached by Spagnolo and hell Mahomes, doesnt matter what he did or how, he won the game. Just my opinion if you nail the QB position your teams quest for greatness becomes easier. Hell everytime Rodgers got hurt the Packers got their asses kicked. He comes back and they make runs to the playoffs. Lets just hope this is the start of something for us with CW,… Read more »

I guess if Justin Fields just had a better social media game, he’d still be in the building. Instead, Poles gave him away so that Caleb wouldn’t have to compete with anyone for QB1.

Not to beat a deadhorse, but one preseason and OTAs isn’t enough to change three years of bad habits for almost anyone at any position if they are the difference making bad habits like the ones JF1 had.

If the Bears did that and it didn’t work? New regime again?

Then what, wait until Arch Manning is in the draft in 2026 or later. That would only be his sophomore year. Most evaluators say that there is no one near the talent level of the top three in this year’s draft next year.
