Make no mistake. No player is more central to the Chicago Bears coaching search than Caleb Williams. They know the next coach must be able to develop him into the star he’s capable of being. Anybody who presents a half-baked plan on that front isn’t likely to get far in the interview process. Many insiders have suggested Kliff Kingsbury is an obvious favorite for the job. He’s an offensive specialist who just helped Jayden Daniels to a Rookie of the Year season. More importantly, he knows Williams. They worked together last year at USC.
One would think that gives Kingsbury the edge. Only there is something key to remember. He isn’t the only one who has ties to Williams. Kalyn Kahler of the Chicago Tribune revealed that another prominent offensive mind scheduled to meet with the team is also familiar with the young quarterback.
Brady is a wild card in the Caleb Williams situation.
Many see him as another young offensive wizard like Sean McVay when he ascended a few years ago. The Bills’ offensive coordinator has helped elevate Josh Allen to MVP levels despite the team losing key offensive weapons this off-season. Couple this with the work he did at LSU with Joe Burrow, winning a Heisman and a national title in 2019, and you start to understand why there’s so much hype around Brady. Caleb Williams won’t decide who the next Bears head coach will be. However, his ability to connect and mesh with whoever that coach is will be crucial. That should give Brady an inside track if he presents a solid plan for both him and the team.
Right now, most consider him a dark horse compared to favorites like Ben Johnson, Pete Carroll, and Todd Monken from Baltimore. How Brady performs in the interview will determine the course of this potential partnership.

J Brady would be a very interesting hire for the Bears. Can he elevate C Williams, I think he could do more with C Williams than he has with J Allen. My biggest concern with J B Johnson and even T Monken is simply the fact they are coaching on teams that allow them to specifically work on offense without worry about leading the locker room or being the ‘Alpha’ of the team. In simple, the systems they are in have the luxury of a Alpha HC who maintains control of the team, the locker room, game plans, and for… Read more »
The Bears are doing so many interviews for their own good and public perception. They obviously did not do their due diligence in the Claypool and Nate Davis acquisitions and are overcompensating for their mistakes.
Just having fun with you Sallie

@Bears57 Why hurt Erik’s and my own feelings? Did you not read the last two sentences of my comment? My own opinion: both the articles and the COMMENTS are mostly crap. That is why in my universe of blogging and emailing on an average day across dozens of different sites, when not actually in behavioral mode, SM takes up about 2% of my active time–reading, writing, checking. Keep in mind that I only sleep 6 hours or less in a 24-hour day during my whole life. I play the roles of four real persons with different personae which I am… Read more »
