The Chicago Bears had a very successful 2025 NFL Draft, addressing several key needs. However, the one position they seemed to miss on was running back. Despite a deep class, the draft board didn’t fall in their favor when opportunities arose to select a back.
That said, the Bears appear to be much higher on current RB1 D’Andre Swift than most analysts, which may have lessened the urgency to add another back during the draft.
Nick Chubb Rumors Heating Up
In recent days, rumors have swirled that the Bears could be eyeing former Cleveland Browns All-Pro running back Nick Chubb. The Browns selected two running backs—Quinshon Judkins and Dylan Sampson—during the draft, making a potential return for Chubb to Cleveland increasingly unlikely.
Chubb would offer the Bears a powerful between-the-tackles runner to complement Swift’s more explosive, outside-oriented style, providing a dynamic one-two punch. However, Chubb’s injury history is a real concern. How many more snaps does he have left?

Insider Buzz Suggests a Deal Could Happen
Several NFL insiders are starting to hint that Chubb-to-Chicago could become a reality. Footballguys Senior Staff Writer recently stated, “If I had to guess, Nick Chubb is going to be a Bear by September.”
Meanwhile, ESPN NFL Senior Writer Mike Clay mentioned that most running back rooms appear set, but noted that JK Dobbins and Nick Chubb could still shake things up. He specifically listed the Bears as one of three teams that could be interested in adding either player.
A Cost-Effective Addition for a Loaded Offense
There is growing speculation that the Bears could sign Chubb to a team friendly one-year deal, giving him a strong workload as the RB2 behind Swift. He’d just have to stay healthy for it to truly pay off. With Chicago already stacking weapons around quarterback Caleb Williams, adding Chubb would further solidify an offense that looks loaded on paper.
Over the next few weeks, Nick Chubb is a name Bears fans should keep a very close eye on.
@Krisanthony – Thanks for the response. Obviously you picked up on the sarcasm
It is being said on C that the Bears have made plans to bring Chubb in for a look.
@Sam. That was a great response to my post about running out of bounds. You said exactly what I said but somehow figured out how to make it argumentative.
