Alshon Jeffery Reportedly Trashed His QB to the Media

-

Few players turned from hero to villain in Chicago Bears history faster than wide receiver Alshon Jeffery. Here’s a guy who went to a Pro Bowl in 2013 and posted two 1,000-yard seasons. He looked like an offensive centerpiece for years to come. Then injuries began to slow his progress and rather than help pull the Bears out of the muck, he immediately forced his way out of town to join the Philadelphia Eagles. Then for good measure, he rubbed salt in the wounds both times his team has beaten the Bears since.

However, the saying “What goes around, comes around” always seems to have a place in these situations. Philadelphia is quickly starting to see the darker side of Jeffery. It started back in January with his ugly drop that lost them the game in New Orleans. Then he missed nearly two full games because of injury. Now it appears his dissatisfaction is beginning to boil with the Eagles’ quarterback situation. Specifically regarding Carson Wentz and his inability to settle for easier throws.

It started on ESPN’s NFL Live where insider Josina Anderson quoted an anonymous Eagles source regarding the offense’s issues.

“With the team being 3-3, an Eagles source also talked to me about how they feel like that offense is functioning. We need to make [bleep] simpler. Sometimes we need to just handle what is manageable. Even Peyton Manning knew when to check it down.'”

Things got interesting shortly after that.

Howard Eskin, longtime Eagles sideline reporter and radio host revealed that the anonymous source was none other than Jeffery himself.

Anderson quickly denied Alshon Jeffery was the source

She stated that Eskin was completely off base on such an accusation. However, is he? The guy is much closer to the Eagles franchise than Anderson is so it’s not crazy to think he might have some decent sources of his own. Ones that would help him get the necessary information that Jeffery was the culprit. Especially since this is exactly the sort of thing the wide receiver would do given his history of being a notorious malcontent when things aren’t going good.

Carson Wentz hasn’t had the start to 2019 many had hoped. Though he has 13 touchdowns to just four interceptions, the offense has really struggled the past two weeks. He also continues to take a lot of hits (5 sacks in past two games), often because he likes to hold the ball searching for a big play.

Either way, Anderson would never admit it whether this is all true or not regardless. She’d immediately lose all credibility with her other sources if she did that. Plausible deniability is her best friend. Either way, it seems the Bears can at least say they’re free of that mess.
