Allen Robinson knows living in the past is never healthy. He must look to the future and strive to be better. That is a big reason he came back so strong from a torn ACL back in 2017. However, memories are hard to forget. Especially traumatic ones. No matter how hard he tries, something ends up triggering them for one reason or another.
A-Rob reached such a moment on Twitter. SportsCenter released a tweet with a request. Name a sports moment that had you like this. It was followed by the iconic Crying Jordan meme. For a level-headed person like Robinson, it was the perfect moment, to be honest. Everybody can guess what his answer was. The Double Doink game against the Eagles. One of the most brutal losses in Bears history.
Yet Robinson showed a clear inability to deal with the memory. So he cut the answer off before he could finish.

It shouldn’t been the game that announced him to the national audience. After all it was his two catches for 33 yards on the final drive that put the Bears in position to win the game. All Cody Parkey had to do was hit a 43-yard field in near perfect conditions. No wind. No rain or other elements. That should be a chip shot for a modern NFL kicker. Instead…well…you know.

Just like that, Robinson’s superb 143-yard performance was wasted. It’s hard not to think how different things might be for him now if the Bears had won that game. Would he have more respect and notoriety outside of Chicago? One has to think so given how much people get swayed by playoff performances. It’s hard not to feel cheated after something like that. His big moment ruined by a kicker.
