White Sox 2026 Top Prospects: No. 3 Is Already Making An Impact

-

The White Sox currently have a stacked farm system, and by midseason, they should be considered a top-five system in baseball. This rise is due to the existing talent, but also because some lesser-known prospects are playing themselves on to the radar of the organization.

As we sit about a month into the season, we continue our top prospect list, getting to know some of the depth in the organization. We started with our 20th ranked prospect, making our way to the best prospect in the system. We unveiled our 4th ranked prospect, Hagen Smith, in our last article. Here, we cover our 3rd ranked prospect, Noah Schultz.

Schultz was one of Rick Hahn’s last first round picks as a general manager, as he was selected with the 26th pick in the 2022 draft out of Oswego East High School.

Schultz didn’t play in any affiliated games after being drafted, as he made his minor league debut with the Low-A Kannapolis Cannon Ballers in 2023. Schultz was stellar, as he had a 1.33 ERA over 27 innings, striking out 38 batters while just walking six. While there wasn’t a huge sample size, this was a great first impression on the organization.

This led to a promotion to Winston-Salem in 2024, where he would throw 27 innings of 3.95 ERA baseball, striking out 42 while only walking seven. The White Sox saw all they needed to see, as they quickly promoted him to Birmingham to finish out his season.

In 61 innings with the Barons, Schultz had a 1.48 ERA with 73 strikeouts, only walking 17 batters. This was a huge season for Schultz, as he started to fly up national prospect rankings to end the season.

Schultz started in Birmingham for the 2025 season, throwing 56 innings of 3.34 ERA baseball. He struck out 58 batters but walked 36. This was an uncharacteristic season for Schultz, as he usually has a much better command of the strike zone. But, he was dealing with a lingering injury all season, which is the likely reason for the regression. However, the White Sox still saw enough, as they promoted him to AAA to end the season.

Schultz didn’t fare too well with the Knights, as he had a 9.37 ERA over 16 innings, striking out 18 and walking nine. There wasn’t too much to be concerned about, as it was a very small sample size and he was battling through injuries.

2026 has been much better for Schultz, as he appears to be fully healthy. After dominating in Charlotte, he finally got promoted to Chicago in the middle of April. He’s been as good as advertised with the White Sox, as he has a 3.52 ERA over 15 innings, striking out 18 and walking nine.

Based on what we’ve seen, Schultz is going to be a very good major league pitcher for a very long time. MLB hitters are having a tough time hitting him to this point, and he’s only going to continue to get better.

While he is still considered a prospect now, he will likely graduate off this list in a month. Schultz will anchor the White Sox rotation for a long time and he certainly has earned all the hype surrounding him, hence why he is our 3rd ranked prospect.
