White Sox Get Much Needed Reinforcements With More On The Way

-

The White Sox started off the season much better than many expected, as they were in basically every single game with a chance to win them. However, that hasn’t been the case as of late, as the White Sox have lost six in a row.

However, reinforcements are on the way, as the White Sox have announced that Mike Tauchman has returned from his short stint on the injured list.

To make room, the White Sox designated Travis Jankowski for assignment. However, the White Sox have announced that they have signed him to a minor league deal this afternoon, so he will remain in the organization.

Tauchman has gotten into a few games since returning and it looks like he can provide a spark to the lineup, as he is two for eight so far. For a team that is desperate to score runs, any solid major league player they can add to the lineup will help.

Yesterday another player retuned, this time a pitcher, as the White Sox added Tyler Gilbert to the major league roster from the injured list.

To make room on the roster, the White Sox optioned Brandon Eisert to AAA Charlotte. Gilbert was one of the few relief pitchers Getz acquired this offseason, as he came over in a trade with Philadelphia.

Gilbert went on to make his season debut, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings, while striking out three and walking one. This is a very solid debut for the lefty, as if he can have a solid season for the White Sox, he could get a solid piece in return at the trade deadline.

Additionally, infielder Josh Rojas is also on the injured list and will provide a boost to the infield when he returns. It is likely that he will take Jacob Amaya’s spot on the roster and at shortstop, unless they shuffle some players around.

While none of these players are stars, they are can provide a nice boost to a team that can use it. While some reinforcements have made it to Chicago, there are plenty more on the way, as a few of the top prospects in Charlotte are continuing to play well and push for a promotion.
