Bears Fans Will Officially See Justin Fields One More Time

-

It’s been nice to see the Chicago Bears win a couple of games the past two weeks. Yet the interest from fans has been negligible. Nowhere near where it was at the start of the season or even a month ago. A big reason for this apathy is no playoff incentives and also the absence of Justin Fields. The prized rookie 1st round quarterback was making strides as a starter last month before unfortunately suffering an ankle injury that knocked him out for the last two games.

Many believed that with nothing to play for in the finale the Bears would simply shut him down for the year. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. With his ankle on the mend, it seems Fields intends to play after all. Head coach Matt Nagy revealed in his Tuesday press conference that the QB will practice in full and is in line to start against the Vikings in Minnesota. A nice opportunity to finish the season on a high note.

It is also a chance at some revenge.

Fields’ last appearance was against those same Vikings at Soldier Field. Not only were they the ones that injured him, but they also forced three turnovers at his expense. Two lost fumbles and an interception. The fact the Bears offense only scored nine points in that game was added insult to injury. So it isn’t a huge surprise that a competitor like Justin Fields would jump at the opportunity for payback.

He will also do it with a relatively healthy offense around him. Allen Robinson is back from his extended bout with Covid. The offensive line has all of their bodies. With the added momentum of two wins compared to Minnesota’s crushing loss last week in Green Bay, this offers a great chance to enter the offseason on a high note. Fields still has plenty of doubters out there about whether he can be the guy.

A statement game against the Vikings would be most welcome for Bears fans.
