REPORT: Tony La Russa Reaching Out To Possible Coaches, Getting Ready To Be New White Sox Manager?

-

Well, this seems like it’s kind of serious at this point.

Ever since Bob Nightengale wrote about Tony La Russa being a candidate to become new White Sox manager, the majority of local media and fans have questioned the actual chances of this happening. We know he’s interviewed and La Russa is close friends with Jerry Reinsdorf, but are the White Sox really going to the 76-year-old who hasn’t managed since 2011?

The reality of La Russa becoming the new White Sox skipper now seems a lot more likely, as he’s apparently reaching out to people in case he is hired by Chicago. According to 670 The Score’s Bruce Levine, La Russa has been talking with associates about possible coaching positions and other positions on the coaching staff.

So yeah, this doesn’t appear to be some favor done by the White Sox anymore. Tony La Russa might actually be the next manager on the South Side.

Oh and earlier on Wednesday, former Bears linebacker Lance Briggs dropped this tweet out of nowhere.

A reminder that Briggs works for NBC Sports Chicago, which is partially owned by Reinsdorf. Is he actually telling us something or is Briggs just thinking about the good ole days of baseball after what happened in Game 6 of the World Series between the Rays and Dodgers Tuesday night?

One thing is for sure, if La Russa is reaching to possible coaching candidates, then he must feel somewhat good about his chances of getting hired.
