Forget about the horrible situational hitting by the Cubs during Thursday’s series finale against the Pirates because their best player just left the game after a foul ball bounced off his eye.
Ian Happ has been incredible and by far the most consistent hitter for the Cubs in 2020. A top-5 player in the NL. So, it definitely was a gut punch to Cubs fans as they saw Happ drop to his knees after a foul ball hit his right eye in the fourth inning.
Happ was taken out and replaced by Cameron Maybin.
At this point you just hope Happ only ends up with a black eye and nothing more serious.
UPDATE
X-rays came back negative for Happ.
Now, you hope there’s no problem with his vision or a possible concussion.
