Cubs Option Two Players To Make Room For Chatwood And Quintana

-

The Cubs have officially added Tyler Chatwood and José Quintana to the active roster prior to Tuesday night’s game against the Tigers.

Chatwood will make his first start since Aug. 6, as he spent the past 10 days on the injured list because of a back issue. Meanwhile, the Cubs plan to use Quintana tonight out of the bullpen after Chatwood if everything goes well.

To make room on the 28-man roster the Cubs optioned right-handed reliever Jason Adam and outfielder Ian Miller to South Bend.

Miller was briefly with the club the past few games, as he was called up after Kris Bryant was placed on the injured list Saturday night. Adam made three relief appearances for the Cubs and despite the nine strikeouts in 3.2 innings, the righty allowed a run in each outing.

For Cubs fans waiting to see Adbert Alzolay called up again, I guess we’re going to keep waiting. There are no signs of him being added as a reliever, so I’m assuming he’ll be on standby if there’s an injury in the rotation.

Although, the Cubs do have a doubleheader this weekend against the Reds, so Alzolay might come up then. I just want him with the Cubs on a full time basis.
