There’s New Hope For Marquee Deal With YouTube After Latest Extension

-

All right, so earlier this week YouTube TV let their subscribers know that they were dropping the FOX regional sports networks and the YES Network from their streaming service. That’s 23 markets across the country getting cut from their local sports teams on YouTube TV through the FOX RSNs and for MLB fans that meant 16 fanbases wouldn’t have access to their teams games on YouTube TV.

However, there’s now new hope that a deal between YouTube and Sinclair, which runs the FOX RSNs, could be done as we get closer to Opening Day. YouTube TV told users through Twitter that they are currently negotiating with Sinclair after a temporary extension.

This relates to the Cubs and their Marquee Sports Network because if a deal is agreed to and the FOX RSNs stay on YouTube, then you should expect Marquee to be on YouTube. Sinclair also runs Marquee with the Cubs and the company is taking care of all the negotiations.

So, there’s no deal yet, but the extension signals that both sides do want to work something out by Opening Day, which is now less than a month away.
