Phillies right-hander Jake Arrieta had been pitching with a bone spur in his pitching elbow, but now the 2015 Cy Young Award winner is probably done for the 2019 season.
Arrieta has been placed on the injured list and will have an MRI on Thursday.
Arrieta has a 4.64 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 24 starts for the Phillies this season. In 2018, he had a 3.96 ERA in 31 starts.
After pitching for the Cubs from 2013-17, Arrieta signed a three-year deal, guaranteeing him $75 million with the Phillies during spring training in 2018.
