White Sox Call Up Former 1st Round Pick

-

One more chance for Carson Fulmer.

The White Sox have called up the right-handed pitcher from Triple-A and he’ll definitely have a chance to once again prove himself in the bullpen. Fulmer, taken eighth overall in the 2015 draft, hasn’t had much success in the majors, with a 6.68 ERA and 1.62 WHIP in 67.1 MLB innings.

He was competing for a spot in spring training, but he struggled down in Arizona. Yet, with a terrible start in the bullpen in 2019 for the White Sox, Fulmer still has a chance to prove himself worthy of role with this team.

The bullpen has a 7.31 ERA in 28.1 innings through eight games this season.

To make room on the 25-man roster, the White Sox optioned Ryan Cordell.

If Fulmer doesn’t take advantage of this opportunity then he just may not be cut out for MLB. Overall, the numbers just haven’t been pretty for him. Down in the minors, Fulmer has pitched 322 innings and has a 5.03 ERA and 1.52 WHIP.

He’s made one appearance in Charlotte in 2019, striking out four, walking two and giving up an earned run on two hits in 2.1 innings.
