The Cubs have optioned reliever Carl Edwards Jr. to Iowa according to Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Edwards has allowed six earned run and two home runs in 1.2 innings this season. He’s already walked five batters.
According to Jesse Rogers, Mike Montgomery is heading to the injured list.

No word on Montgomery’s replacement, but it appears as though righty Allen Webster will take Edwards’ spot in the bullpen.
Source says Allen Webster is coming up for Carl Edwards, Jr. Kyle Ryan makes sense for Montgomery (@ESPNChiCubs is reporting he's headed for IL) but haven't heard that for sure.
