Have some Cubs fans already forgotten about the days of Dusty Baker playing Neifi Pérez for whatever reason, or Lou Piniella kind of just not trying anymore at the end of his time in Chicago, or the previous century of ineptitude? It really seems that way because there is a bigger portion than you’ll imagine that hates Joe Maddon.
However, this might take the cake. This was nearly 1,400 words on how this Cubs fan believes Joe Maddon is ruining the team and is somehow making this era the least enjoyable during his life.
I think there were 1,000 more words on why Joe Maddon is bad.
I hate these fans. pic.twitter.com/zA7eiLyfl3

If you want to torture yourself, or I guess have a laugh, here’s the full reddit post.
By the way, there’s a difference between criticizing Maddon, which is completely fair, and saying he is the worst manager ever, which some fans actually believe. The extremes that some fans go to is appalling.
Anyway, this leads to another group of people, who also hate Joe Maddon.
Jon Heyman was 670 The Score Tuesday morning and said umpires don’t like Maddon.
Umpires are NOT big fans of Joe Maddon, not sure if that is out there but it is the truth. says @JonHeyman

On Monday, Maddon was ejected in the eighth inning after a few close calls went against Carl Edwards Jr., including the following pitch that would have ended the inning before the Brewers eventually tied the game.
This was called high by both the ump and the hypothetical robot ump pic.twitter.com/NVSRJ0Mlbr

It was called ball four by the umpire and even the pitch tracker had it high, although it was literally belt high, right down the middle, which is in the strike zone.
The STRIKE ZONE is that area over home plate the upper limit of which is a horizontal line at the midpoint between the top of the shoulders and the top of the uniform pants, and the lower level is a line at the hollow beneath the knee cap.

Are robot umpires seriously the solution to the problem? Yes or no? pic.twitter.com/9vkPeKYxe3

Anyway, Maddon got tossed and so did Edwards after he was replaced by Steve Cishek.
As for umpires not liking Maddon, no one likes them period. And you know what, Gabe Morales actually let both teams argue a lot during Monday’s game, so I don’t mind him finally saying enough is enough with Maddon, despite, you know, kind of missing that call.
And that’s the major take away from this. Managers and players will always argue with umpires about the strike zone and that’s because it’s never consistent. It really does feel as though umps are guessing on some pitches.
That will always happen when you have people trying to call strikes and balls on pitches going 100 mph and pitches breaking with ridiculous spin rates.
So, umpires don’t like Joe Maddon. Join the club of dumb.
