Cubs Fan Escapes Serious Injury All Because He Was Wearing A Bucket On His Head

-

No one really knows why this guy was wearing a bucket on his head at Wrigley Field earlier this week during a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, but he’s fortunate that he was. Otherwise his trip to the hospital would have had a different ending.

I’m sure this guy got some odd looks with a bucket on his head, but ultimately it saved him from a serious head injury. During Tuesday night’s game between the Chicago Cubs and Diamondbacks, a piece of metal fell from the Wrigley Field scoreboard and hit this fan.

A man struck in the head by a metal pin that rolled out of the center field scoreboard at Wrigley Field earlier this week was apparently spared more serious injury by a plastic bucket he was wearing on his head, according to police and the Cubs.

The 19-year-old man who was hit was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center and received five staples to close a cut on his head, Green said.

According to the Cubs it was only accident, saying there are no loose pins on the scoreboard.

The 6- to 8-inch pins are used to attach the scoring tiles by a crew inside the scoreboard. Green said team officials were investigating whether it was dislodged or a worker dropped it. Since it was deemed an accident and not a structural issue, the Cubs are not concerned about a recurrence.

So, nice job wearing the bucket and I bet there’s some sort of lawsuit coming too. Accident or not, you should never expect something to fall and bust your head open when going to the ballpark out of nowhere.

Again, who knows why he was wearing a bucket on his head, but if it was because Jonathan Herrera, who was with the Cubs in 2015 and wore a bucket himself in the dugout at times, then you can say Jonathan Herrera might have saved a life.
