Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward played only four innings of the team’s 7-1 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates today in part because he hurt his hand after making a sliding attempt to catch a foul ball off the bat of David Freese in the second inning. He failed to make the catch and was visibly bothered by something on his throwing hand.

Trainers came out to wrap his hand and he stayed in the game before he was pulled in the fourth inning. Less than an hour ago, he shared the nasty cut that led to him being removed from the game on his Instagram account.

So much for the dirt in foul territory being soft huh? I don’t know much about cuts of that magnitude but I can’t foresee it keeping Heyward out of the lineup too long.

Good luck on not screaming when soap gets into that thing in the shower either JHey.
