White Sox Prospect Leaves Game After Getting Drilled With Pitch

-

Ever since getting sent to Arizona to work on his swing with White Sox hitting director Ryan Fuller, Colson Montgomery has looked like a different hitter

On April 27, Colson Montgomery’s batting average had plunged to .149 after a 0-for-6 showing. In 23 Triple-A games, he had struck out 43 times in 103 plate appearances and posted a dismal .479 OPS. This came on the heels of a .214 average and 164 strikeouts last year, though he did manage a respectable .710 OPS.

After working with Fuller and getting a mental reset, Montgomery returned strong. In his last 15 games, he is batting .280 with three homers, 12 RBIs and ten runs scored. He also owns a .350 on-base percentage and .450 slugging percentage that stretch.

But on Friday, Montgomery was forced to leave the Knights’ game against the Buffalo Bisons in the third inning after being hit in the kneecap by a pitch.

Montgomery immediately fell to the ground and grabbed his right knee before getting help off the field.
