White Sox Have Reinforcements On The Way

-

After a horrible game on Saturday, the White Sox have lost 10 games in a row. They are currently 7-21, which is good enough for last in the weak American League Central. They are giving the Athletics a run for their money for the worst team in the MLB. Hopefully, with some big names returning, the White Sox will be watchable.

The Return Of TA

According to James Fegan, Tim Anderson, among others, will likely return on Tuesday. This will mark the end of an almost twenty-game absence for Tim. While he was gone, the team has completely fallen apart, so he will look to turn things around.

Along with Timmy, it looks like Hanser Alberto will join him on the plane from Charlotte. With the return of Alberto, it will likely signal the end of Romy Gonzalez on the southside.

Gonzalez, who had a strong spring training that showcased his power ability, has been a disappointment to this point. He is hitting .143 with no home runs and only one RBI. It is time to send him down and let him get some hits in AAA. If another injury happens, he will most likely come back.

The return of Tim Anderson will also mark the end of Lenyn Sosa in Chicago for the time being. For someone who was absolutely raking at AAA to start the season, he has been quiet with the bat in Chicago. He is a very talented player, but he cannot put it together at the major league level quite yet. If the White Sox are sellers, look for him to come back up and play the rest of the year to see if he will have a future here.

Injury Updates

James Fegan also mentioned how Luis Robert Jr. and Andrew Benintendi will most likely be ready by Tuesday as well. Robert’s injury is the most interesting of the bunch.

After what seemed like poor hustle to first base on a ground ball to the pitcher he could have easily beat out, Robert was yanked due to a lack of hustle.

After the game, Robert claimed he was dealing with a sore hamstring that resulted from hustling the night before.

Regardless of what the truth is, this whole situation is the epitome of the White Sox season. A defeated team going through the motions. To make matters worse, Robert did not even know the name of the bench coach. I am not sure what is more embarrassing in this situation.

Robert will miss a couple of games and return on Tuesday. This should be good for him and hopefully, he will get his head back in the game, as he has been one of the most disappointing players on the field this season. Maybe getting yanked from the game will light a flame under him and the team.

After Andrew Benintendi was hit by a pitch on his elbow, he has missed the last couple of games. But it seems he too will make his return on Tuesday. He has been the most consistent hitter on the team, regardless of the lack of power. If Tim, Benni, and Robert all come back and play like we know they can then it could be a good sign for the White Sox.

Moncada May Be Close Too

While there have been few updates on the status of Yoan Moncada, it seems like they are waiting for him to completely heal. It seems that a disc in his back has been affecting a nerve in his back. Now, I am not a doctor, but that does not seem good. I would imagine he might take a bit longer to come back, but he has been taking ground balls and trying to stay in shape before his rehab assignment.

Hopefully, he comes back soon, as he was off to a great start to the season. He alone isn’t likely to save our season, but maybe the combination of everyone would be. Or perhaps they can showcase their talents for other teams and we will start another rebuild.

Regardless, there will be a lot of roster gymnastics over the next week or so and the team will look much different than it does today.
