The White Sox Need Tim Anderson Back ASAP

-

So far, this has been the worst possible outcome for the White Sox. They are 7-16 and one of the worst teams in the major leagues. This can be attributed to many different reasons, but none more important than the loss of Tim Anderson. When Timmy is on the field, the White Sox are significantly better, without him, they’re just a mediocre team at best. If the Sox want to save this season, they will need him back ASAP.

Stats Don’t Lie

Since the loss of Tim Anderson, the White Sox have been on one of the worst slides in all of baseball. When Tim was playing, they were 5-6, still not great, but significantly better. At that point, the team looked like they wanted to be there, now the dugout is dead.

Without TA, the White Sox have won a measly two games. You read that right, two(2) games. They are 2-10 without him and a bottom-four team in the league. Now, you can attribute this 2-10 record to a lot of different things, but TA missing games has had an effect on the White Sox winning games for his whole career.

Jesse Rogers from ESPN examined the winning percentages with and without star players from each team. He looked at Mike Trout, Ronald Acuna, Giancarlo Stanton, and even Eloy Jimenez. Surprisingly, the team with the biggest difference in their winning percentage is the Chicago White Sox.

Tim Anderson means so much to this team. He is the leadoff hitter and one of the leaders in the clubhouse. With TA, the White Sox are 150-112, without him, they are only 66-79. That is a big difference. The White Sox have a very small difference when Eloy misses gmes, proving the true value of TA. They need him now if they want to right the ship.

His Absence Is Missed In Other Parts Of The Game

If all of this was not bad enough, since TA has gotten hurt, the baserunning on the team has been severely hindered, specifically the stolen bases.

As you can see, the team has essentially stopped stealing bases since the departure of Tim Anderson. He was a big part of the stolen bases, as he accounted for five of the thirteen they had. Now, since he’s gone, they have managed one stolen base in just as many games.

This disparity says a lot about the rest of the team. It can show that they are not as aggressive or they are not getting on base, but it also shows how important TA is to creating run opportunities for the Sox, something they have lacked since he got injured.

But, with the way the Sox are playing who knows how much the arrival of Tim Anderson will change things. Regardless, it will be nice to have a consistent bat at the top of the lineup, and hopefully, he can inject life into this dead team.
