The Entire Baseball World Is Roasting The White Sox Right Now

-

The White Sox are off to their worst start in the franchise’s 120+ year history. Not only are they 8-28 and have the worst record in baseball, but they rank dead last in MLB in virtually every meaningful stat. Chris Getz said this past offseason that he “didn’t like our team,” yet somehow managed to construct a team that is worse than last season.

It has gotten so bad that the team’s futility has become the talk of the baseball world. Within the last 24 hours, the team’s ineptitude has been a talking point in Chicago, on another team’s broadcast, and even on the channel dedicated to baseball.

Ozzie Guillén’s Remarks

We all know how respected Ozzie Guillén is in this town, and his words hold merit. Even he has had enough. Following the loss last night, Guillén went off on the postgame show regarding the lack of accountability. Amidst an extended rant, Guillén remarked, “No, I’m tired of watching this thing day in and day out. I’m getting paid. Yes. But I’m a White Sox fan.” You know it is bad when the most successful manager in decades is that brutally honest on the postgame show.

Strays From The Dodgers Broadcast

The White Sox incompetence is now getting noticed outside of Chicago as well. The Dodgers played the Marlins last night, who are also having a terrible season. The Dodgers broadcast team remarked, “[The Marlins] need to play the White Sox, then at least one of them would win.” The White Sox were not even involved in that game and still caught a stray. The criticism is even more painful coming from the broadcast crew calling games for a team with a 25-13 record and one of the most successful teams in baseball year in and year out. The White Sox are so pathetic currently that they have become the butt of jokes on opposing broadcasts.

MLB Network Getting In On The Fun

Even MLB Network is having fun cooking the White Sox. During a live look-in of the White Sox/Rays game last night, studio host Greg Amsinger remarked, “You can’t lose to the Chicago White Sox this year. Last year it was the Oakland A’s. This is the year that when you play the White Sox, you have to go in thinking sweep. Is that disrespectful to say that?” Getting compared to the 2023 Oakland A’s is as low as it gets, yet that is where the White Sox are now. Even Amsinger thought that statement was disrespectful, but it was not. They are just that bad.

The White Sox Are Very Bad

The 2024 White Sox are historically bad, and the entire baseball world knows it. Being mocked and clowned relentlessly almost certainly will not change anything as far as Jerry Reinsdorf or personnel changes go. Reinsdorf does not care enough about winning to make meaningful changes to get better. If he did, changes would have happened already. But it is oddly satisfying that the rest of the baseball world knows how bad we have it right now.
