Sam Antonacci’s Strong AFL Run Shows No Signs of Slowing

-

White Sox prospect Sam Antonacci is quickly emerging as one of the top performers in the Arizona Fall League after another standout week.

The 22-year-old infielder went 9-for-13 over four games, tallying five runs, five stolen bases, four walks, and a home run. His hot streak adds to an impressive fall performance, as Antonacci has totaled 17 hits in 12 games for the Glendale Desert Dogs, the fifth most of any AFL prospect.

On Tuesday, he continued to extend his hot streak with a hit, a stolen base, and a pair of RBIs. The Springfield, Illinois, native is now hitting .347 with a .958 OPS, which includes nine stolen bases and a pair of homers. The two home runs are particularly noteworthy when you consider he hit just five in the minor league this season.

Ranked as the White Sox’s No. 11 prospect, Antonacci is doing more than standing out in the Arizona Fall League — he’s solidifying his case as a key part of the organization’s future infield plans.

His calling card has been a polished approach at the plate. Since entering pro ball, Antonacci has shown an advanced feel for the strike zone and a knack for consistently barreling the baseball, traits that have continued to shine against some of the game’s top prospects this fall.

Plate discipline became a major organizational focus for the White Sox in 2024, and few players in the minor league system embody that philosophy better than Antonacci. His patient, left-handed swing and ability to control at-bats reflect the type of offensive identity the club is building under hitting director Ryan Fuller.

This season, across three levels, Antonacci slashed .291/.433/.409, finishing with Double-A Birmingham, where he posted an .819 OPS in 49 games. He also drew 69 walks, showcasing a rare combination of selectivity and consistency that has quickly made him one of the most intriguing bats in the White Sox pipeline.
