Michael Austin of the Chicago Tribune wrote a pretty lengthy article yesterday about the brand of wine that the Cubs use as their celebratory booze of choice. Once again, I don’t claim to be a ‘wino’ and the only wine/champagne I drink is the $9.99 bottle you can get at your local Wal-Greens.

I’m a classy guy.

I was intrigued to find out that the Cubs alcohol isn’t very far off from the aforementioned ten dollar bottle that I like to enjoy every now and then. The Cubs use Mumm Napa Brut Prestige, which  retails for $22 a bottle and is only 12.5% alcohol.

Immediately when I saw that the wine contained the word “mumm” in it, my brain jumped to one of my favorite scenes from a classic movie, “Meet the Parents.” Greg goes to the local convenient store to try and buy the most expensive bottle of champagne they have to impress his girlfriend’s parents.

That’s exactly what the Cubs did too. They bought a whole bunch of Mumms. During their historic post season run, the team used over 1, 200 bottles of the wine which was supplied by Binny’s Beverage Depot.

So if you’re an optimist like me, you’ll begin stocking up on this delicious beverage for the Cubs 2017 run as well.
