Dhiren Mahiban, who was one of the first to report the Blackhawks interest in Franson, announced they have signed him to a PTO.
Franson was the last dependable defenseman left on the free agent market. If it works out, he we will be playing in the third defensive pairing on the right side behind Seabrook and Murphy.
As stated, this is a “Professional Try Out” and not a full contract. If things work out in training camp and to start the season, it is likely he will be offered a full contract when Hossa is put on LTIR.
