We Have A Winner For Most Absurd Chicago Bears #1 Pick Trade Idea

-

There is a chance the Chicago Bears will keep the #1 overall pick. A stronger chance than some people care to admit. That said, this is the highest likelihood the pick has come to being traded in years. All it requires is a team willing to pay the necessary price to get it. The good news is this 2023 draft class has some intriguing quarterbacks at the top. If one of them separates himself from the rest, it will be the incentive necessary to spark a deal. That is why several experts have taken turns projecting potential trades that could happen.

Some have been realistic. Some not so much. Yet probably the best to date in the category of absurd came courtesy of Chris Trapasso from CBS Sports. Now he was correct to project the possibility that the Las Vegas Raiders might want to move up. They are moving on from Derek Carr and have a vacancy at quarterback. Where things go off the rails is in two ways. One is their offer, and the other is who the Bears take after the deal is concluded.

So the Raiders give up two future 1st round picks, a 2nd round pick, two 3rd round picks, a 4th round pick, and a 5th round pick to move up six spots. For context, San Francisco gave up two future 1st round picks and a 3rd round pick to go from 12th to 3rd overall. Then there is the pick itself.

The Chicago Bears are not prioritizing linebackers.

If Trapasso had bothered to do some research, he’d remember the team traded Roquan Smith a few months ago. This new regime led by GM Ryan Poles doesn’t see linebackers as a premium position. He’s said from the outset that pass rushers, cornerbacks, offensive tackles, and wide receivers are his focus. Tyree Wilson, Peter Skoronski, and Paris Johnson Jr. are all still available in this mock draft. There is no doubt Poles would take one of them over Simpson. This is why it’s dangerous to trust what you hear during draft season. Things always get out of control.

Here is what fans can be assured of. The Chicago Bears are 100% open for business with the #1 pick. They will field calls from teams up until their time on the clock if they have to. Poles is confident enough to pull the trigger if he hears an offer he likes. Last year proved he isn’t afraid to trade down. It may also depend on whether he is willing to give up on certain players that may not be available later. A trade is possible, but not anything like this one.

Do they really not value line-backers or was It them de-valuing shitty linebackers?

The trade compensation, I’d take in a heartbeat but that isn’t happening. Bears fans need to temper their expectations bc all mock draft websites and “draft analysts” seem to be off. If the Bear trade, they will get a few picks but not a haul like this unless they trade back multiple times; however, that is rare.

I wouldn’t say this trade scenario is any more absurd than many of the others I’ve read over the last few weeks. The part that really is ABSURD is who the bears would draft in that scenario. A LB? Really? That’s just lazy. On to the next…..

The reason they give so many picks in this scenario, you dolts, is because some of them are not till 2025. That devalues their worth
