It’s easy to forget sometimes that professional athletes are human beings just like the rest of us. They just happen to be really good sports too. They laugh, cry, and have off-the-field ambitions. Especially when it comes to having families. Tarik Cohen is no exception. Even as he focuses on getting back on the field for the Chicago Bears, his personal life took an exciting step forward.
It appears his longtime girlfriend is pregnant with their first child. However, like many young couples, they decided to keep the gender a secret. Now with the birth drawing closer, the time felt right for a reveal party. True to form, Cohen decided to do it in style with fireworks and a series of huge letters little up by lights. The top word spelling “BABY” while the bottom had either “BOY” on the left side or “GIRL” on the right. When the boy sign lit up in its trademark blue?

While it’s a safe assumption Cohen would’ve been thrilled to have a girl, anybody knows most fathers would prefer to have a son. Somebody they can pass down all of their passions to. Somebody who can carry the family name into the future. One can imagine Cohen was flooded with excitement over the possibility of teaching his son all about football, video games, and everything else in the years to come.
A hearty congratulations are in order for him and his girlfriend. This is a big moment for them. One that figures to get even better in the months and years to come. As for his job? Tarik Cohen remains determined to regain his old form after suffering an ugly knee injury last season. Recovery remains in progress as training camp nears. One thing is for sure. He should be more motivated than ever to play well.
