VIDEO: Justin Fields Pulls Out Jordan Shrug After Epic 61-Yard TD

-

People had serious questions about Justin Fields going into 2022. Those have all but vanished now. The Chicago Bears quarterback is playing his best game as a professional, already racking up three touchdowns in less than three quarters against the Miami Dolphins. That was punctuated by an incredible 61-yard run for a score with the defense looking like they were running in sand. The best part came at the end as Fields gave the crowd a trademark Michael Jordan shrug. The G.O.A.T would be so proud.

It’d be one thing if Fields were only making things happen with his legs. That isn’t the case. Miami hasn’t stopped him much through the air, either. He’s 12-of-16 for 96 yards and two touchdowns as of writing this. The guy hasn’t been stopped most of the afternoon. The only saving grace the Dolphins have is their offense hasn’t been stopped as well. Chicago’s gutted defense has no answer for Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

Justin Fields must carry the load moving forward.

The defense isn’t going to save this team for the rest of 2022. That became inevitable after they traded both Robert Quinn and Roquan Smith in one week. It’s obvious the Bears are focused on the future. Rebuilding that side of the ball will have to wait until next off-season. Fields and the offense must pick up the slack. It appears they’re ready and willing to do that. Not exactly something anybody expected to happen this year.

The scariest part is Justin Fields continues to do this with what many feel is below-average personnel around him. The offensive line hasn’t been great, and his receiving corps wasn’t much better. If the Bears can start surrounding him with legitimate star power in the coming years, there is no telling how good he’ll become. So it shouldn’t be a surprise that fans are so excited. Maybe the most they’ve been in well over a decade.
