VIDEO: Justin Fields’ Accuracy Truly Is Something Else

It wasn’t a fun news day for Chicago Bears fans on Wednesday. They were slapped with a number of unfortunate revelations, headlined by 2nd round pick Teven Jenkins requiring back surgery. It always seems like when excitement builds around this team, something happens to kill it. So one can imagine fans weren’t thrilled when it was revealed Justin Fields would be limited in practice with a groin strain.

That means all three of the Bears’ top draft choices have been injured before the season even begins. Needless to say, people are getting nervous. True to form though, Fields isn’t one of them. Though he didn’t practice much, he still found ways to get some work done on the side. One of the most interesting drills came at the end of practice when he and the other quarterbacks took turns throwing footballs into a trash can. That might not sound like much until you understand the trash can was 20 yards away in the corner of the end zone.

Fields was the only one to nail it.

One must understand this. Based on the type of trash can being used, that looks like a 44-gallon version. This means it has a diameter of approximately 24 inches. Or two feet. Fields managed to drop the ball into that limited space from 20 yards away. That is not easy to do. At all. It serves as another reminder that the young Bears quarterback isn’t all about arm strength and running fast. He can throw with touch too.

Justin Fields is still expected to play on Saturday against the Buffalo Bills. The team will be cautious with his injury with the hope of getting him more valuable game reps. Something he isn’t likely to see during the regular season unless Andy Dalton gets hurt. It’s nice to see he is progressing so rapidly.
