VIDEO: Caleb Williams Was Ecstatic When Bears Took Rome Odunze

-

If Chicago Bears fans think they were excited when the team stole Rome Odunze with the 9th overall pick, they have nothing on Caleb Williams. The new Bears quarterback actually flew to Detroit with Odunze on the same plane. They also had a throwing session together before the draft. It seems they struck up a quick friendship. Both had mutual respect for each other after battling in the Pac-12. When the pick came at #9, Williams was spotted doing a massive fist pump.

Williams isn’t stupid. He understands the key to his success in the NFL is his supporting cast. He already had Moore and Allen when he arrived. Then, barely an hour later, he gets a player drawing comparisons to Larry Fitzgerald. Nobody can blame him for having that reaction. He knows how good the Bears can be this year if he plays well. Stopping the Bears won’t be nearly as easy anymore. Aside from the receivers, defenses must also contend with Cole Kmet and De’Andre Swift. Good luck.

Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze could be something special.

If you want a comparison of what they could become, think about what Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams were together. Williams has similar accuracy and improvisational skills, while Odunze has that unique mix of hands and route-running. Rodgers and Adams were impossible to stop. Chicago may have their own version. That is before you think about Moore and Allen, who are already studs. If everybody stays healthy, this offense will score points. Williams may not be great immediately, but he has a ton of help.

Rome Odunze doesn’t need to be the guy right away. He gets to learn from two of the best in the business. Allen is a future Hall of Famer. Moore could be headed down that track as well. You couldn’t ask for better mentors. The offense is ready. The Bears are free to focus their remaining resources on supporting the defense. Williams is happy. That much is certain.

Really good picks at #1 and #9 — Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze.

There is no guarantee that any player entering the league will be a success.

But Ryan Poles finally selected players that were ranked equal or above where each was selected (Caleb at #1; Rome ranked at #6, selected at #9).

Congratulations, Ryan Poles and the Chicago Bears!

Now, let’s continue on this new course of action — reasoned selections of the BPA; and more focus than ever on UDFAs and future roster cuts of the top NFL teams.

I think the Bears selected Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison in the 1st Round. Next up, they take Iggy Pop in the 3rd Round unless they use some of the 2025 picks to move into the 2nd Round for Jonny Rotten.

Offense is set for weapons this year and beyond. Gives the Bears WRs even if Harris decides to leave after this year. They picked 2 blue-chip players. Thats good for the Bears for quite a few years. Now we just have to see what Poles and the Bunch has up their sleeves for the defensive line.

Odunze has been my top guy at #9 so I’m very happy.

If they stay at #75 I’m keeping an eye out for Austin Booker DE Kansas 6’6″.
