This Could Be Justin Fields Last Chance Vs The Broncos

-

The Chicago Bears season has been nothing short of a disappointment so far, and Justin Fields appears to be under the most pressure to prove himself in this week’s game against the Denver Broncos. After facing three strong or at least decent opponents, the Bears are now up against a team that may have less talent than they do. The Broncos defense has been struggling, recently giving up a staggering 70 points to the Miami Dolphins. The bottom line is that if the Bears offense, especially Justin Fields, doesn’t perform well in this game, it could signal the end of his opportunity in Chicago.

What happens if the struggles continue?

Here’s the thing: If Justin Fields and the offense keep struggling, it could get even worse. Some argue that we’ve already reached our lowest point, but what if the offense scores just 10 more points and loses to a winless Broncos team? I doubt the team or the franchise could continue on without making changes. This would leave the team with a 0-4 record and on track to secure the number one overall draft pick once more. So, if the Bears have another disappointing performance at home, there are three possible courses of action I think the team could consider.

Fire Luke Getsy

Just three months ago, anyone suggesting that Luke Getsy might be fired after only four weeks into the season would have been considered absurd. However, the past month has been so rough for the offensive coordinator that if the team’s offense fails to score points again, he might find himself out of a job as early as the following Monday.

Bench Justin Fields

While it’s a tough decision to make, if he throws for under 100 yards once again, it’s almost necessary to consider giving Tyson Bagent a chance. Nevertheless, considering all the other factors affecting the quarterback, it may not really matter who is under center at this point.

Keep it status quo

Even if things take a turn for the worse against Denver, running it all back the next game will likely become the most probably outcome. While a brutal 0-4 start is undeniably concerning and warrants significant changes, we’ve witnessed many times in the past where the Bears have been reluctant to make drastic changes, particularly when it comes to the coaching staff mid-season.

Prediction:

I expect the Bears to perform well offensively against Denver. However, if things don’t go as planned, I don’t think the team will make any quick changes since they have a Thursday night game against the Washington Commanders. Regardless of the outcome, the Bears will likely maintain the same personnel and coaching staff for at least the next two games.
