The Bears Biggest Offseason Need According to Pro Football Focus

-

When it comes to the Bears offseason agenda there are about two positions almost everyone can agree on that the team has to look to fill. Those two needs happen to fall at the offensive line and tight end positions.

There also many fans/analysts who would strongly disagree with the statement I just constructed above. No, they have come to believe (within good reason) that the Bears have make a change at the most important position in all of football:

The quarterback spot.

According to Pro Football Focus, they seem to share a similar belief. PFF believes Chicago’s number one area of need is bringing in a new signal caller to replace Mitchell Trubisky.

Subscribe to the BFR Youtube channel and ride shotgun with Dave and Ficky as they break down Bears football like nobody else.

“We’re going into Year 4 of Trubisky as the Bears’ starting quarterback, and he has still failed to crack a 70.0 PFF overall grade. He just isn’t going to develop into the guy the Bears were hoping for when they took him as the second overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. With plenty of intriguing quarterback options available to the Bears via free agency this offseason, they should attack the position to get back to contending in 2020.”

Analytics is a touchy subject but even more so when it comes to a player in Mitchell Trubisky, who always seems to be on the wrong end of the spectrum when it comes to his PFF scores. Another key note to mention is PFF also listed the offensive line and tight positions as the other two big areas to retool for the Bears heading into the offseason.

Take from that what you will but you’d think those other two positions would have quite an impact when it comes to the quality of play from the quarterback spot?

Right?
