The Chicago Bears aren’t able yet to unleash Mitch Trubisky. So until that changes they’ve been getting creative with their ways to generate passing offense. Last week it was a fake punt by Pat O’Donnell for a touchdown. This time it was Tarik Cohen running a halfback pass to Zach Miller to put the Bears up by 10 in Baltimore.
What makes the play so unique is that Cohen is all of 5’6″. According to history there hasn’t been anybody shorter since at least the NFL-AFL merger in 1970 to throw a touchdown pass. So it’s clear Cohen is dead set on making as much history as possible.
It’s also helping the offense who continues to take it slow with rookie Mitch Trubisky. The Ravens defense has made it difficult for the #2 overall pick. Receivers haven’t gotten open and Baltimore has easily sniffed out several of the pass plays Chicago is trying to run. Trubisky has at least done a good job of not forcing the ball and risking turnovers.
People are getting upset with him. That’s not entirely fair. He’s made a couple nice plays that helped them get points including a big scramble for a first down in Ravens territory. He can’t get the receivers open himself.
