Surprise, Surprise: An Old Mitch Trubisky Critic is Spouting Nonsense

-

Mitch Trubisky has long since dismissed his critics as nothing more than noise. He’s focused on trying to win football games. This is something he’s done quite a bit of lately, taking the Chicago Bears to a 7-3 record. Their best start since 2012. To date, he’s thrown for 2,469 yards with 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions while also rushing for 363 yards and three more touchdowns.

He’s having a strong year. Impressive considering it’s his first in a new offense and he’s playing with a completely rebuilt receiving corps, none of whom he played with as a rookie. Yet the hate continues to flow week after week. It’s getting obnoxious at this point. It’s not so much that these people are talking bad about him either.

It’s that they’re talking bad when clearly they have bad information. It becomes obvious right away that they don’t watch tape or do research of any kind. One name, in particular, seems to have not learned his lesson as he’s still talking. So it’s that time again.

Michael Lombardi once again proves he knows nothing of Mitch Trubisky

Former GM and longtime personnel man Michael Lombardi got himself into hot water with Bears fans a few weeks ago when he attacked Trubisky, stating people would be selling their jerseys of him within three years at the latest. He had no future in the NFL. Well, unsurprisingly 670 The Score gave him a chance to continue his rhetoric, with this being even more uninformed than before.

Okay. So there’s a couple of things to unpack there. The idea that Trubisky isn’t good on 3rd down and the fact that he can’t throw to his left. Both were myths that followed him into 2018 after he struggled as a rookie. Most believed this was a permanent issue that would never get fixed. Yet if Lombardi had actually watched the game last Sunday against Minnesota, he’d realize his argument is outdated.

Trubisky completed three huge throws to his left in the 4th quarter. Two of them were conversions of 3rd and 8, one of which helped set up the clinching field goal by Cody Parkey. The other was a two-point conversion over star Vikings corner Xavier Rhodes. Keep in mind the Vikings have the best 3rd down defense in the NFL (28.3%) and the #1 red zone defense too.

For the season Trubisky has completed 43-of-73 passes for 566 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions when throwing to his left. That’s good for a 99.6 passer rating. Solid take there, Michael.
