Second Phase Of Summer Camp Begins For The Bears

-

After two weeks of training camp, the second camp phase begins this week. After a day off today, the Bears begin the three-week preseason schedule. The Bears will host the Tennessee Titans this Saturday. Kickoff is at Noon, Central time, and is televised nationally on NFL Network.

After two weeks of camp, we see this roster’s transformation and Ryan Poles’s work paying off. With the addition last week of edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue, credit has to be given to Poles and his staff. Aside from the special team unit, every position group has been upgraded.

The Offense Continues To Shine

The chemistry between Justin Fields and the WR trio of Claypool, Moore, and Mooney shined throughout practice. According to many reporters attending practice Sunday, Fields had his best day of practice. He ended the session with an absolute laser to DJ Moore for a red zone touchdown.

Roschon Johnson had a play that had fans out of their seats. Lowering his shoulder into a defender. The impact of the contact was heard all over the stadium, to the delight of fans and Johnson’s teammates.

The defense also made plays despite several starters not practicing Sunday. Tremaine Edmunds was walking around pumping up the defense for the family fest. Defensive players Jack Sanborn, Jaquan Brisker, Kyler Gordon, and Dylan Cole were held out of practice.

Newly acquired edge rusher Yannick Ngakoue was not in attendance. After signing his new one-year deal, Ngakoue returned home to deal with personal business. He is expected at Halas Hall for practice when camp resumes on Wednesday.

In addition to the defensive players not practicing, OGs Nate Davis and Teven Jenkins were unavailable on Sunday. After practice, coach Eberflus did not seem too concerned about the players, suggesting all would be set to return this week.

New and Notes

Dominique Robinson will give up his jersey number 91 to Yannick Ngakoue. Robinson’s new jersey number is now 90.
