The NFL draft is just a few hours away and GM Ryan Pace feels prepared. Thanks to help from the IT team, the Chicago Bears draft room is set up in his personal living room with all the bells and whistles in terms of necessary tech. Pace said the NFL mock draft dry run between all the teams earlier this week went smoothly for him. He felt comfortable with the process and will be in constant communication with his people in case of emergencies.
In an effort to get Bears fans excited for the coming festivities, Pace let the team come into his home to view the setup. It’s pretty impressive. He has no fewer than eight different screens in close proximity to his chair with a phone that has direct connections to the 31 other teams in the NFL. What was interesting is how his player board was configured.
Where most teams would probably have all prospects stacked together, Pace doesn’t. He actually has them split between offensive and defensive guys. All one can say is the man seems well-prepared for the madness that’s to come.
Chicago Bears draft will either be thrilling or boring
What people don’t know for certain is what the Bears will do. History says Pace isn’t the type to stay put from where he stands in a draft. Many think he’s going to trade somewhere, either up or more likely down the board. After two picks in the 2nd round, Chicago doesn’t have another until the 5th round. So it would make sense. Then again Pace has a long track record of being aggressive. If he sees a player he wants, he’ll go get him.

At the same time, the Bears could easily just stay put and make their picks. They aren’t in the best position to move around anyway. So much depends on how the board falls in the coming hours. All one can do is make educated guesses at this point. Either way, it’s nice to see Pace is prepared for just about anything.
