Raiders Pull Shocker With Last Pick From Khalil Mack Trade

-

The Khalil Mack trade is set to complete itself in this 2020 NFL draft. Last year the Oakland Raiders used their first of two 1st round picks on Alabama running back Josh Jacobs. He ended up having a strong season before it ended with an injury. The Raiders, now in Las Vegas, had one more to go. The 19th overall pick in the draft. Their selection ended up being a considerable surprise.

Ohio State cornerback Damon Arnette.

While many expressed liking him, others have had concerns. Some with his generally average speed, his lesser size, and also the fact he’ll be 24-years old this year. NFL.com had him as the 13th-best cornerback in the class. So it certainly feels like a bit of a reach. Obviously no one will know that until he gets on the field but right now it appears the Bears didn’t do half bad when they made their move for Mack.

Bears can win Khalil Mack trade on Day 2

The best part for Bears fans is their team has a chance to fire back. One of the keys of the Mack trade was Ryan Pace getting back a 2nd round pick in the deal. That pick became #43 overall. It will give them an opportunity to still land a difference-maker in this class. Pace has a good track record in the 2nd round with guys like Eddie Goldman and Cody Whitehair. If he delivers there, Chicago will have absolutely won this trade.

Time will obviously tell. One thing is for sure. The Bears appear content to be patient and let the board fall as it will. Aside from the usual speculation by fans, the odds of them trading up to the 1st round appear remote. People will have to wait another 24 hours to find out what Pace has planned.
