Prince Amukamara Lost It When Hearing Ryan Clark’s Shot at Allen Robinson

-

Former safety Ryan Clark got in hot water with Chicago Bears fans recently. It came when he declared without any preamble that Allen Robinson was not a #1 wide receiver. He views guys like DeAndre Hopkins and Kenny Golladay as that caliber. Robinson is a notch below. Suffice to say fans weren’t apoplectic hearing that. Here’s a man who posted 1,000-yard seasons with Blake Bortles and Mitch Trubisky and he can’t get any respect as a true #1 receiver? One other man was stunned when he heard the news. That was Prince Amukamara.

Despite being released earlier this year, the veteran cornerback hasn’t lost any love for his teammates. He had an interview with the “Beared Down” podcast to talk about the team and his own future aspirations. When he was informed of what Ryan Clark said, his reaction sounded quite animated.

Keep in mind Amukamara has gone against some really good wide receivers in his career. So for him to say Robinson is in his top 5 is a true measure of respect.

Prince Amukamara remains classy to the end

Robinson might have a chance to deliver an even better season in 2020 than last year. This is presuming Nick Foles ends up the starting quarterback as many expect. He’s somebody who got over 800 yards out of Riley Cooper one year. If he can go a full season and play close to the level he was back in 2017-2018, then the Bears offense should improve all around. Robinson will lead the way and might even get some extra big plays out of the deal.

Either way, there is no doubt the team believes he’s a #1 receiver. By the end of this summer, they’ll likely be paying him like one. Robinson is in the last year of his current contract. Expectations are an extension of some kind will be worked out before the regular season begins. Something both he and the fans are anxious to get done.
