Peyton Manning Used Nick Foles To Mercilessly Troll Tom Brady

-

Nick Foles might not have the respect of everybody in the football world, but he certainly has it from the guys who matter most. His peers. The newest Chicago Bears quarterback probably didn’t expect his name to come up at a charity golf match of all things. Yet that’s exactly what happened. For those who haven’t heard, the sports world has eagerly anticipated a golf contest between the teams of Peyton Manning and Tiger Woods vs. Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady.

It’s hardly a secret that Manning and Brady were probably the greatest rivals in NFL history. They ruled the AFC together for 15 years, meeting multiple times in the playoffs where the winner would go on to claim a Super Bowl championship. This developed a healthy friendship between the two, but the competitiveness obviously never left either of them. That much is evident in the good-natured barbs they’ve thrown at each other.

On that front, the advantage has to belong to Manning. His best yet came when he was asked whom he might’ve considered for a caddy.

Manning knows Brady well. He knows the competitor that guy is and how despite winning six Super Bowls it still burns him to no end that he also lost three. Two to Eli Manning and the other to Foles. While the latter hasn’t had a chance to respond, Eli already made his comment.

Nick Foles should be proud of that accomplishment

Here’s the thing. Beating Brady in just a regular game is hard enough. Beating him in the Super Bowl is something to be proud of. Keep in mind Kurt Warner, Donovan McNabb, Russell Wilson, and Matt Ryan all failed to do so. That is a strong list of contenders. Brady will have a chance to get some redemption later this year. His new team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be paying a visit to Chicago this coming season. Presuming Foles is the starter by that point, it will be their first meeting since that fateful game.

Both for different teams. The NFL is a strange, strange place.
