The NFL Draft is less than a week away, and the buzz around what the Chicago Bears will do with the No. 10 overall pick is getting louder. Will they stay put and take the best player available? Or could they consider trading back if their top targets are off the board?
A Wild Card Option: Trading Up
Those are the two most common scenarios being discussed. But there might be a third option flying under the radar — trading up.
One player that could entice GM Ryan Poles to move up is Boise State superstar running back Ashton Jeanty. On the latest episode of Bears Film Room on Sports Mockery’s YouTube channel, Ficky and I broke down what a potential trade-up scenario might look like.
Beating the Raiders to the Punch
We both agreed that if the Bears want Jeanty, they’d likely need to get ahead of the Las Vegas Raiders, who hold the No. 6 pick and are a prime candidate to take him. That means striking a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars at No. 5.

The Trade Proposal

Here’s what that trade could look like based on the Jimmy Johnson trade value chart:
Chicago Receives:
Round 1, Pick 5
Round 6, Pick 182
Jacksonville Receives:
Round 1, Pick 10
2026 Second-Round Pick
This deal checks out value-wise and would allow the Bears to keep both of their second-rounders in this year’s draft. With Jacksonville owning a healthy number of picks in 2025, they might be open to adding a future second.
Fan Reactions and Social Buzz
We posted this trade idea live on Bears Film Room, and the reaction was split. On Twitter alone, we got over 200 comments — some fans loved it, others weren’t sold.

Will Poles Pull the Trigger?
Still, if Poles truly wants Jeanty, this is a move he could make. Remember, he was ready to trade up for Rome Odunze in last year’s draft before Assistant GM Ian Cunningham talked him into staying put at No. 9 — and it worked out.
Could Jeanty be the player that finally gets Poles to pull the trigger on a first-round trade-up? It’s possible. Personally, I’d roll the dice and stay at No. 10 — let the board come to you again.
What Should the Bears Do?
What do you think? Should the Bears trade up for Jeanty, stay at 10, or trade back? Drop your thoughts in the comments below!
I’d only trade up for Mason Graham and I’m not even sure about that!
@Dr. Melhus
Being in Philly area, you know better than to compare the 23 team against the 24 team based solely on Saquon Barkley. Having significantly better coordinators made a difference. Barkley, with a Kellen Moore, able to see what wasn’t working and change (with Barkley on the roster), is a bit different than having a Mike Kafka, and a Barkley on the roster.
Yes, Daniel Jones is different than Jalen Hurts, but who coaches and schemes these guys.
Thinking coordinators and coaches make every single player better. (They can’t make players “great,” but they make the team function better.
@Dr. Melhus great blue is the only place that has Fannin that low, everyone else has him top 5. For my money he’s the best receiving TE in this class. 2nd too early? Yeah, probably. He’s more a late third early fourth if you need a TE2 to work as a wing back or split out. 210 is way too low though. He’s probably 100-125 in my useless opinion. As I said earlier, I would’ve preferred they draft Ja’Tavion Sanders last year to fill that need instead of signing Everett but if that’s still the TE role they’re trying to… Read more »
@Dr. Melhus PHI led the league in rushing yards in 2021, and that was before they started centering their entire offensive identity around QB dives on down-and-1, which is unstoppable and doesn’t involve the RB position.
Jalen Hurts, and to a lesser extent the OL, is why their ground game has been elite going on six years now. Barkley makes the unit better, which is amazing because it was already elite when he got there.
RBs Jeanty and Hampton are both excellent of course but have quite different styles and abilities. The plays for each should be different for each as well.
The proposed trade is too easy for the Bears.
