One Person Reportedly Keeping Chicago Bears Out Of Trade Market

-

The trade deadline is three weeks away. Moves are already happening. Teams that view this season as a wash have begun unloading players they don’t see as part of their future. Many have pushed the Chicago Bears to take advantage of this opportunity, looking to add a quality veteran to shore up a problematic area of the roster. Maybe there is a solid running back out there who can compete with D’Andre Swift. Perhaps a pass rusher is available who can actually get sacks. Yet there have been zero signs that the organization is even considering a move.

That doesn’t figure to change, at least according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune. He went on 670 The Score to discuss the trade market situation. From what he gathers, the Bears aren’t really looking to make a move. The strange part is that the person you’d expect to be resisting the idea, GM Ryan Poles, is not the case. It appears the man who has made it clear no moves should be made is head coach Ben Johnson.

Anybody with knowledge of NFL history understands this is not normal.

The Chicago Bears are in a transition period.

This roster is not championship-ready. It hurts to admit, but that is the truth. They still don’t have a legitimate left tackle. Their pass rush is anemic, despite significant resources being invested in it with the additions of Montez Sweat and Dayo Odeyingbo. Also, they have multiple issues looming next offseason, including both safeties becoming free agents. Taking even a minor swing for help on the trade market drains the Chicago Bears’ draft coffers. Considering their constrained salary cap situation, that is unwise.

It sounds like Johnson isn’t naive. He understands the Bears are a work in progress. This season is about evaluating who belongs in his vision for the future and who will have to be replaced. You can’t do any replacing without draft picks. As interesting as a trade would be for the team’s 2025 prospects, it is unlikely to benefit the big picture. Johnson believes the wise course of action is to draft talented players and let his quality coaching staff develop them.

Its funny, I get busy, next thing you know I’ve missed a bunch of posts. I come back and there’s a line divided in the sand as usual between everybody in the room. Well I’m not telling you which line to stand in, just like I’m not telling you which political candidate to support. I think both of those things are pretty obvious. It depends on who you are, and what you’re all about. The main thing is, if you can’t figure that out, then there is a problem. And so we come to Ben Johnson. And everybody seems to… Read more »

BadDog. You have to remember you’re arguing with several dipshits, typing as one. That cocksucker was getting whooped in the comments a few articles back. They forgot which account she was logged into. I thought for sure that bitch would’ve had several Tylenol and took a long nap.

Fuck, our reality fellas. We ALL have a case of incurable syphilis with Shitty Gritty and her 11 Monkeys.

Or, maybe Ben Johnson thinks the same as I’ve been saying that they’ve only played 4 games. Maybe he recognizes they should be 3-1, if not for a bunch of rookie mistakes including his own against Minnesota, that nearly 50% of the roster is new to Chicago, the coaching staff is all new (except for 2 guys) and pretty much coaching together for the first time, that they’ve played without some key pieces, and they’re all creating and learning new systems on both sides of the ball. Maybe that means that Ben Johnson is so confident in the roster and… Read more »
