NFL’s Most Accurate Mock Drafter Predicts Chicago Bears Shocker

-

Mock drafts are never 100% accurate. It will never happen unless somebody has all the information from all 32 teams and it’s one giant conspiracy. That said, certain people have proven to be far more consistent in their correct predictions over the years than others. It makes for an interesting read, perhaps indicating they have information available to them that others may not. Enter Brendan Donahue. The columnist for Sharp Football Analysis is rated as the most accurate mock drafter of the past five years, with at least 43 correct predictions on average per year. He released his latest for the 2024 draft this week. It featured a notable surprise for the Chicago Bears.

Things start as expected. GM Ryan Poles follows through on what everyone widely believes, taking USC quarterback Caleb Williams at #1 overall. Things progressed normally through the next four picks, with Washington and New England also taking quarterbacks. Arizona takes Ohio State receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. Where things start getting interesting is at #5 and #6. Los Angeles foregoes another weapon, or Justin Herbert in favor of bolstering his protection, while the New York Giants bypass a quarterback in favor of wide receiver help. It’s not the one most people expect.

This opens the door for Chicago to pull off a minor stunner at #9.

Nabers falling to the Chicago Bears would be huge.

One must understand the context. Many top draft evaluators believe the LSU standout is right on par with Harrison Jr. in terms of ability. Lance Zierlein of NFL.com actually graded Nabers higher than Harrison, comparing him to Minnesota Vikings superstar Justin Jefferson. He’s fast, quick, fluid, and experienced at playing all three receiver positions on the field. He is equally deadly outside or in the slot. The scariest part is many think he is unpolished as a route runner. One can only imagine what he’ll become once that problem is solved.

This would be a shocker because almost every draft expert to this point hasn’t seen Nabers falling out of the top 6-7. Odunze leaping him is a new development, likely brought on by two factors. One is concerns about an arrest for gun possession while in college. Another is his refusal to participate at the combine. Meanwhile, Odunze competed in every drill and even stayed after everybody left the field to try to break his preferred mark in the three-cone. He also reportedly blew people away in interviews.

If things unfold this way, the Chicago Bears could suddenly possess one of the most explosive wide receiver duos in the NFL with Nabers and D.J. Moore.
