Mitchell Trubisky Sends Message to Caleb Williams at Joint Practice

-

The Chicago Bears hosted the Buffalo Bills for a joint practice on Friday ahead of their Sunday night preseason game. This was the Bears second joint session of the summer, with the first coming against the Miami Dolphins.

One of the more “fun” storylines was the return of former Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky to Halas Hall, where he spent four years as the team’s starter. When asked what advice he would give current Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, Trubisky offered a thoughtful answer that once again showed his class.

“I only had it for four years. I wish I had it longer. Take it in, enjoy the process,” Trubisky said about being a first-round quarterback in Chicago.

Trubisky admitted he wished he had enjoyed his time in Chicago even more, noting how quickly it went by. Williams is already facing significant pressure, much like Trubisky once did. With new head coach Ben Johnson and heightened expectations, the spotlight is brighter than ever. As Trubisky acknowledged, it can be tough in Chicago—but Williams has the tools to make it work. I guess that’s the bittersweet reality of playing in a market like Chicago. The Bears haven’t had a true superstar QB—it will be exciting to see Williams potentially become that first franchise QB.
