One can never truly grasp what may impress players about a team. For some, it’s an owner. For others, it’s a tradition, a chance to get a certain teammate to play with, or a head coach to play under. Of course money always plays a part too. One other aspect that never gets another credit for helping sway people? Workout facilities. Players have to spend a huge majority of their time working out to keep those bodies in shape. So it’s only natural they’d prefer facilities that have all the bells and whistles. Matt Nagy understands that.
He was a player once too and understands it’s the little things that often improve or regress their play. Being able to exercise and hang with teammates in a nice workout environment can mean all the difference. That is why he was quick to laud the recently completed renovations at Halas Hall. Something the team has worked towards since GM Ryan Pace took over all the way back in 2015.
Apparently, the changes were well-received. Nagy has already heard from people around the league about how impressed they are with the upgrades. He believes that this now gives the Bears an extra advantage moving forward when it comes to luring potential free agents they covet.
Matt Nagy indeed thinks just like Pace does
One would think as a head coach that Matt Nagy is only focused on the present. It seems natural. He wants to win and win now. However, it would appear he has one eye tilted towards the future as well. He doesn’t just want to win in 2019. He wants to win every year. In order to do that, a steady stream of quality players must be maintained on the roster. Free agency is a critical part of that goal. If the upgraded facilities give them an edge, all the better.

One thing is for sure. Those workout facilities have helped a great deal in transforming the Bears into one of the best-prepared teams in the league. They feel ready to make a run at the Super Bowl. They’re in great condition and totally focused on the task ahead of them. They can’t wait for the season to get started. Nor can their head coach.
