Matt Nagy Fires 98 MPH Heater, Motivates Aaron Bummer and Befriends Rick Renteria in 50 Seconds

-

For those who were already aware, Matt Nagy is a good head coach. Last season proved that much. He engineered the second-greatest turnaround in Chicago Bears history, taking a team that was 5-11 the previous year to 12-4 and a division title. Players swear by him as a leader and motivator. Perhaps what stands out the most though is how personable he is. The guy is so natural at meeting people.

There may be no better example than his recent appearance at a Chicago White Sox game. Nagy was honored to throw out the first pitch. Being the competitor he is, he wanted to make sure he didn’t embarrass himself. So When Sox pitcher Aaron Bummer stood in to receive the pitch, Nagy made sure to give it his best.

It turns out his best was pretty good. Though it was high, the ball came in clocked at 98 mph. Not bad for a 41-year old football coach. Then again with Nagy’s quarterback history it shouldn’t be a huge surprise. It was after this moment though that it came through just how natural the coach is at connecting with people.

Matt Nagy will become an icon if he brings home a championship

If nothing else, this proves it’s impossible to not like Nagy. He makes it so easy. The guy is a natural-born leader. He’s already established himself as a favorite among Chicago fans. That isn’t easy to do, keep in mind. Even Lovie Smith had trouble with it for years despite winning plenty of football games. This should paint a pretty clear picture of what will happen if and when Nagy can win a Super Bowl.

He would be instantly made in this town forever more.

Mike Ditka may have been popular in his day for the same reason, but it wasn’t so much because fans liked him as a person. They liked him as a personality. His style just seem to fit what the team had been missing. Nagy is different. He’s one of those guys that is easy to root for because his job isn’t just to win football games. It is to send the proper message on how to conduct ones self as a person.
