Chicago Bears head coach, Matt Eberflus, is known for his rare appearances in interviews beyond the mandatory press conferences after games and practices. However, he made an exception for The Green Light podcast. Hosted by former NFL player Chris Long, who happens to be the older brother of Bears’ legend Kyle Long, who appears weekly on the podcast. Naturally, Kyle also joined the episode featuring Matt Eberflus as his connections at Halas Hall helped land the interview.
While the entire episode is entertaining, one particularly intriguing moment was when Chris posed the question to Eberflus about his personal favorite highlight of Justin Fields. Eberflus delivered a great response that should resonate with every Bears fan.
“There was a lot of them. Some of those long runs he broke out were just, I was most amazed by those. You have this thing called game speed. Time speed and game speed. He’s as fast as he needs to be. That’s exciting to watch.”
Matt Eberflus Is One Of Us
If you ask Bears fans about their favorite Justin Fields highlight, chances are high that they’ll mention one of his otherworldly breakaway runs. It’s refreshing to hear an NFL head coach share an opinion that most fans will likely agree/relate too. Hopefully, in the next season, Justin’s improved passing ability could make this question more difficult to answer. But there aren’t many quarterbacks outrunning entire NFL defenses.
