Luther Burden III, the Chicago Bears second round pick, is already making a strong impression with his relentless work ethic. A recent video from the Walter Payton Center shows Burden training alone—despite just finalizing his rookie contract—showcasing his dedication ahead training camp under new head coach Ben Johnson. More good news: It looks like Burden’s soft tissue issue is no longer affecting his practice time.
Burden has made it clear he believes he should’ve been a first round pick, and that chip on his shoulder is fueling his every move. His mindset and hunger are exactly what NFL teams look for in young talent. At Halas Hall, that drive is already being noticed, fitting perfectly with Johnson’s plan to surround quarterback Caleb Williams with dynamic playmakers alongside DJ Moore and Rome Odunze.
The Walter Payton Center, has become the backdrop for Burden’s focused preparation. As Bears players report to camp on Tuesday, his early work and mentality suggest he’s ready to compete, contribute, and become a key piece of the Bears future right away. However, he will have an uphill battle as the Bears wide receiver room is one of the deepest position groups on the roster. But Ben Johnson definitely has a vision for Burden even in year one. It will be fascinating to see how that all works as camp gets underway. You can watch Burden’s full video here.
